Ceramic restoration, repair and conservation of all ceramics, porcelain, glass, stoneware and pottery.Text Box: Yvonne Monro has had an ongoing relationship with Ceramics dating back many years. Many of today’s restorers start out as potters, collectors or dealers and progress into restoration.

Yvonne has been a potter since her early twenties. She has run her own pottery studio, teaching all aspects of ceramics. She has exhibited at various national exhibitions in the Cape. She has worked in a wide range of ceramics, including low-fired earthenware, raku, stoneware and porcelain. As a result of Yvonne’s hands-on experience, she has gained a comprehensive understanding of ceramics, their composition and manufacturing processes, providing the necessary insight required for specialist restoration and repairs.

A natural process, evolving from pottery to restoration, now allows Yvonne to actively save and conserve the works of many great artists.

Yvonne Monro works from a purpose fitted workshop in the private grounds of her home together with her colleague, Christine Spheris. Yvonne and Christine have been trained by the South African Academy for Ceramics Restoration and hold certificates from the Academy.

Restoration and Conservation is as much an investment in the past as it is in the future.
